Minutes of the DMTF Board Meeting

June 5, 2003, DMTV Studios

In Attendance: A quorum (just barely) of Connie Anderson, Pete Glaser, Nicole Holliday, Jack Batzler

Minutes approved from last meeting (5/1/03)

New Grant Applications: Kevin Harmon from Ramona submitted an application for a Grant to produce a show called “The Mad Cow Variety Show”.  While the sketches will not be about Del Mar, they will be interviewing Del Martians. All actors will be High School and College students from the Ramona and Poway areas.  The goal of the Producer is that this will be a pilot for a series. Nicole questioned whether the show fits the Del Mar goals for programming. There are also some “racy” parts in the sample dialogue submitted that were thought to not be in the best interests of local programming. The show will need an adult supervisor, as the producer is just 17 years of age. Among other things, the show will be contingent upon Supervisor approval. Pete will talk to Edward about the show content.  Members of the Board agreed to review the proposal further and come to a decision as to whether to go forward with the request.  Pete informed Kevin Harmon that he would be informed at a later time as to the final decision.

Nicole Holliday was unanimously elected Vice President of the Foundation.

Fund Raising Brochure Layout: A sample brochure, developed by Pete, was passed out for comment.  This concept document was an attempt to provide for more pictures and less words, since visuals are our business. The pictures basically consisted of title pages from our programs. Content was discussed, including a highlight sheet featuring six subject areas of the electronic town square and a candidate sheet that outlines suggested contribution levels. It was suggested that each of us look at the two content items and provide suggested changes or our approval, hopefully at the next fund raiser meeting. We also need to develop a “to do” list with a timing plan for a fund raising kickoff in the September time frame.

The next fundraiser meeting will be held at Nicole’s house at 0800 on Monday 16 June.

DMTF Productions Status: Current plans call for covering (1) The Summer Solstice, (2) DM Pulse for the Library Wall unveiling, and (3) the Texas Toothpicks at the Plaza.

Database Management: We are still in the process of a candidate search.

New Website status: The complete plan includes 10 streaming video programs, for a total of five hours of programming.

Board Member selection: The possible selection of Chantal Sicile-Kira is still pending.  Pete is tentatively planning to propose her as a member of the advisory board, as she may not have time for more participation.

Due to time constraints, other matters were not discussed.  These included the Producer’s Group/Showcase and Adelphia actions.

The next board meeting is scheduled for 8:30, July 3 at DMTV.
