Minutes of the DMTF Board Meeting

December 5, 2002, DMTV Studios

Attended:  Pete Glaser, Nicole Holliday, Herb Turner, Garry Shirts, Joanne Price, Jack Batzler, Philippe Lamoise and Edward Kramer

Minutes approved from last meeting.

Financials:  Joanne presented the financials - approved.

Pete and Joanne to sign documents at Hawthorne on 12/10.

Joanne will close out books for years prior to ’01.

Draft for ’03 budget was approved.  It was agreed that the fundraisers for ’03 should be referred to as “primary” and “secondary” until the board has decided on a specific fundraising events.

Grant Status:  Funds not distributed for productions in progress will rollover to ’03.

“Sheriff’s Search and Rescue” production has applied for a county grant for $10k .  Grant will be awarded in March.

Grant for “Kid News” – producer Maria Gardner, was approved.

Grant for “Stairway to Fitness” – producer Joanne Price, was approved.  Garry suggested we move to community programming.

Additionally, Joanne presented a press release that she had written about the  “Wave Awards” to be released to local papers.

Producer’s Showcase:  To be discussed next meeting.

New Board Member Status:  Board is still looking to fill one position.  Pete met with two candidates; Maureen Dime might be a possibility.

Streaming Video Study:  Philippe presented a sampling of how many hits the streaming video is getting and how many minutes people are watching.  “A Walk in the Park” gets the most hits/viewer ship.

Nicole to ask Ingrid if she would write a press release about streaming video on the DMTB website and about “The Walk in the Park” DVD for sale.

Valentine Video:  Edward presented an idea for a fundraiser.  Concept:  Provide DMTV supporters a vhs video Valentine’s Day card taped professionally, in studio, live to tape.   After much discussion, it was decided that the board would consider the idea for next year.  The consensus is that it is a good idea but that there is not enough time for promotion and advertising to make it a success this year.  Board will revisit idea Sept/Oct ’03 for Feb. ‘04.

Fundraising Alt. Discussion:  Nicole suggested several alternate ideas to the Legacy project –

*produce a “History of DM” video and give to donors of $1k or more

*donors sponsor specific productions

*board members come up with short list of individuals who could/would make large donations and ask them personally.

This sparked additional ideas from Garry and Jack - maybe we raise funds like KPBS.  It was decided that the board would meet in January 22nd at Nicole’s house (1345 Crest Road) for two hours to discuss fundraising.

Annual Dinner:  Pete is going to host the annual dinner at his house in January– date tbd.

Next board meeting – January 2, 2003 at 8:30am. at DMTV.
