GRANTS
Pete Glaser said $6700 is committed to Community
grants and $2602 to Non-Community grants for 2002. Walt will update the
Grant Application Tracking System monthly and will distribute copies to
the Board quarterly.
New applications:
Mary Hale was awarded a $400 grant for The 7th
Annual Ugly Dog Contest, a 30-minute program scheduled for May release.
Logos of commercial sponsors of the event, such as Petco and Royal Canin,
may be shown briefly in the program; and funds for next year’s program
will be sought from those potential sponsors.
Paul Martin was awarded $726 to produce Falcon
Vision, a continuing talk-show, in-studio program by and about Torrey
Pines High school students.
Philippe Lamoise was awarded $400 to produce Rotary
Youth Leadership Awards, a 30 minute show highlighting youth training,
sponsored by Rotary and including Torrey Pines students. Rotary
contributed $1000.
Luanna Karr was awarded $375 to produce Words of
Art, either two half-hour shows or one half-hour show, featuring artists
and a guitarist at the Del Mar Art Center March 20.
In other grant-related news, Mary Hale noted that
Pam Slater contributed $3000 to fund Lagoons for Laypeople. Pete will
acknowledge the gift. Philippe Lamoise said his shows on music in
Provence and the US/Mexico Peace Conference are both in post-production.
MONTE CARLO
Additional raffle tickets for the trip to Monte
Carlo will be sold to people who do not attend the event; 200 will be
sold to event attendees and 300 to non-attendees for a total of 500
tickets. Pat Freeman will manage the raffle tickets. Other prizes for
attendees are being solicited. Ned Augustenborg said Adelphia will
sponsor the event to some degree.
COMMUNITY CALENDAR
The Calendar is expected to go “live” in April
and include events from the Rose Society, Historical Society, and
Friends of the Library as well as from the calendar founding agencies:
DMTF, the Del Mar Foundation, the Del Mar Cultural Committee, Community
Connections, and the Friends of the Powerhouse. Chamber of Commerce and
Merchant’s Association activities will also be included --
but no commercial business listings. Annual costs for the
calendar are $1800 and the five founding agencies will each contribute
$360. The DMTF contribution was approved.
WEBSITE
Streaming video is getting closer, and it is
anticipated that shows transmitted will include city council meetings
and DMTF community programs. Additional memory space is
being sought, possibly from UCSD.
COUNTY GRANT
Susan Switzer said pre-production is well underway
for A Walk in the Park. She is soliciting additional funds to make the
production as high quality as possible. The production team of Glaser,
Switzer, Lamoise, Steve Rose, and Rich Jardin will meet March 25 to firm
up shooting schedules and review the script.
ADELPHIA
Ned said the sub-regional organization in Southern
California is in the process of being restructured. They are still
considering opening Channel 68 and are seeking a contract with the
Padres. He said he would ask Charlie to schedule on DMTV the exciting
game between Torrey Pines and Carlsbad which has already been cablecast
on Channel 3.
DATABASE
The database was used to send a Save the Date
message about Monte Carlo Night and is getting close to being capable of
sending messages with attachments. Garry Shirts is soliciting additional
names for the “A” list.
PRODUCERS SHOWCASE
The first show went well and the second, about
travel, is being produced March 14.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:10 a.m.
