Notes from the January 19, 2005
Producers Group Meeting
The first
meeting of the new year was brought to order at 6:45pm by Bob Ganey. In
attendance were Steve Rose, Luana Karr, Pete Glaser (representing the
DMTV Foundation) Michael Mosakowski, Larry Jones, James Alguire,
Philippe Lamoise and Sher Slavin.
New members
Mary Johnson and David Ryan were asked to introduce themselves. David
has had previous experience when he lived in northern California, Mary
has experience editing and both are waiting to take the production
class.
Discussion was
held regarding ideas of marketing the Producer’s Group and the Studio.
Pete mentioned
how successful the recent Del Mar Idol singing contest was in
introducing the community to the facilities. It was also mentioned and
asked if anyone had corporate contacts for sponsorship of the Del Mar
Idol Program that they please see Pete about approaching their contacts
with the possibility of sponsorship.
The group
discussed setting up monitor and possible interviews at Farmer’s
Market to peak interest. Other possibilities discussed were a karaoke
night and having regular notices go out to newspapers regarding our
shows.
Volunteers to
help on Saturdays so we can rotate the responsibilities were asked for.
Anyone interested please email Luana at : luanakarr@sbcglobal.net.
This way we can get organized and get it started as soon as possible.
It was also
suggested that we have volunteers to speak at the production class and
hand out our flyer so we can let prospective members know how, when,
where and hopefully, join our group.
The need for a
production manual was discussed and Larry Jones volunteered to start
looking at it and putting a few notes on paper and it will be reviewed
by the chairpersons so we can come to a consensus on the content.
We have a new
mirror for the teleprompter that will hopefully make it easier to read
under the lights. We also have acquired a green screen. An in-service on
both will be set for a date in the next month or two. We also have
acquired a stand alone DVD Burner. We are waiting for the city to help
install it in the control room so you will be able to burn a DVD right
from your tape using the programmer. We have wireless mics and we need
to purchase appropriate carrying cases and brackets for the cameras.
Pete reported
Foundation news. The most important was that he has stepped down as
president and Nicole Holliday is now president and Jodi Kennedy is
vice-president. Pete will still be handling the funding and grant
proposals. Also, the DMTV Foundation is looking for a staff assistant to
help with various duties such as taking/typing minutes for them and
miscellaneous duties. It will be approximately 8-10 hours monthly and it
is a paid position. The person would need to be able to attend
Foundation meetings on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 9am. You can
contact Pete Glaser for more information at dmtv@delmartv.com
We have a few
shows that are being proposed for the upcoming months. If you have any
ideas for producer showcases please email Steve Rose at stever9@adelphia.net.
Sher is
planning a possible series on gemology and jewelry artistry. Larry is
working on a show concerning global warming. If you have any ideas or
need help in co-producing, please contact us at Producer’s Group : dmtv@delmartv.com
and one of us will get back to you with information.
Coffee Talk is
funded for 4 more shows this year, as well as Kidsnews for 4 episodes.
So please come
forward with your creative ideas and we can add more programming to Del
Mar TV.
Pizza all gone
and business concluded the meeting was adjourned at 8:50pm
Notes from the April 21, 2004
Producers Group Meeting
The meeting
was called to order by Bob Ganey at 6:50 pm. Pete Glaser announced that
the computer had been received for the Teleprompter. It was decided that
Bob was to order the remote for the operation of the computer with the
teleprompter.
Bob Ganey
reported the new sound board was received and due to be installed in the
control room May 5th. It is a Mackie 24 channel and should definitely
help in the sound quality of programming. Bob also reported that he
thought we had enough funds to order a portable "blue" screen
and was going to check into details further. Mike Mosakowski and Luana
will check into the cost of purchasing DV tapes for the so we can see
where we can get the best rate.
Steve Rose
reported on the Producer’s Showcases coming up. Eileen Sprague is not
producing Kidscorp at this time so in May Debi is producing one about
the Rancho Coastal Humane Society and how to go about adopting pets.
Maria Gardiner is contacting our Postmaster to produce a show regarding
his 2 careers (sing/plays), possibly for June. Maria also suggested
producing a show about all the members of the group and show clips from
our shows. Ingrid thought that would be a great idea as well. Luana is
hoping to produce in September with fellow producers Philippe Lamoise
and Jason Gines along with some Search & Rescue volunteers about
shooting their project. Please make sure to send your request or ideas
in to Steve, or Luana for showcase programs. stever9@adelphia.net.
Or luanakarr@sbcglobal.net
Last producer’s
showcase was reviewed and well received, regarding Children and Art in
the schools. A few comments were made regarding the set, which was very
colorful and looked good but made for some harsh camera angels. But it
was thought that the host, Ingrid Hoffmeister did a great job and the
guests were interesting and articulate, and an excellent show was
produced. The 2 Kidsnews shows were completed and ready for airing.
There were great comments on the new set and desk for the kids.
Maria was okay
a grant to produce a show regarding the upcoming "Stroll in Del
Mar" Art & Dessert. There will be a variety of music and
several artists set up at various restaurants in downtown Del Mar, part
of the promotion of the Village Association.
Next Meeting
May 19th! Please come and give promote your ideas and creativity.
Notes from the March 17, 2004
Producers Group Meeting
The meeting
was called to order by Luana Karr at 6:50 pm. Pete Glaser announced that
Bob Ganey is a new member on the Board of the Foundation, and
representing the Producer’s Group. Pete said that Nicole Holliday and
Tracy Phillips had finished their work on the nine month project of the
Children’s History of Del Mar. It is narrated by 3rd Grade students
includes 100 historical pictures and will be used as a teaching vehicle
for 3rd grade school students in the Del Mar area. The Del Mar
Historical Society co-sponsored the program. The premier is April 22nd.
Also announced
was the grant award from the County Television Committee for a program
that Luana Karr submitted for Del Mar TV Foundation on Search and
Rescue.
A grant of
$10,000 was awarded to complete the project which will highlight the
volunteers of the County Sheriff’s search and rescue. Luana reported
that taping has already begun. Working with her on the project are
Philippe Lamoise and Jason Gines.
Bob Ganey
reported on the new equipment purchased with the money from the
Fundraiser in November. New speakers in the studio, lighting board and a
teleprompter is on its way. This should help a lot on production
quality.
Steve Rose
reported on the Producer’s
Showcases coming up. March will be produced by Debi Salmon on
composting. Eileen Sprague and Rosemary Vale will produce in May another
"Angels Among Us" program featuring KidsKorp. April’s
Showcase will tape on April 14th a Wednesday instead of Thursday. Ingrid
Hoffmeister and Debi Salmon are producing. The show will focus on
elementary school art programs etc. Please make sure to send your
request or ideas in to Steve, or Luana for showcase programs. stever9@adelphia.net
or luanakarr@sbcglobal.net
It was
discussed to possibly have meetings every other month instead of each
month but the decision was made that contact with each other for show
crews and ideas should be maintained on a monthly basis. We will try and
make business issues short and get to the critique our programs so we
can continue on improving our shows.
"As the
Earth Turns" showcase was critiqued and had good reviews overall.
Way to go Debi.
Next Meeting
April 21st!
Notes from the January 15, 2004
Producers Group Meeting
The
meeting was brought to order by Bob Ganey and Luana Karr.
Steve Rose was introduced as the new addition to the Tri-Chair
leadership committee.
Bill
Hoffman stated his pulse segment on the Challenged Athlete Foundation
run last fall was almost ready, needed some additional editing and it
would be ready for airing.
A
new “soon to be producer” Angela di Carlo was introduced and pitched
her idea for a pulse segment on kids, (specifically a sixth grade group
she was working with) and the benefits of exercise and yoga. It would
specifically highlight a 10/10/10 program, which is
yoga/cardio/resistance training. She would like to produce a 5 to 10
minute pulse. Angela is going to email her proposal to Bob Ganey and the
rest of the chair for approval.
Steve
Rose submitted a proposal that Debi Salmon had emailed him for
Producer’s Showcase. It
was agreed that she could have the Feb 12th showcase date.
Debi was out of town and unable to make the meeting.
Maria
Gardiner solicited crew to tape 2 sessions of Kidsnews, tentatively on
April 10th.
Luana
Karr has two ideas she is working on for Producer’s Showcase: Children
dealing with depression and anxiety and another in the “Reflections”
Showcase featuring former Captain of the USS Nimitz, Jack Batlzer. That
is awaiting a date when the Nimitz will be back in port in San Diego as
she plans to tape a roll-in on the Nimitz itself.
Mike
is going to work on Pete Glaser’s idea of interviewing Del Mar
Postmaster regarding his music and band, as a Producer’s Showcase.
Coffee
In Del Mar revisited: Mary Pinizzotto voiced her willingness to host it and Mike
Mosakowski and Kris Jones wanted to work on it as well. This would be
produced through the grant process.
It
was suggested that we make a pulse regarding the classes available
through the Del Mar TV Foundation. It was also suggested to check into a
training workshop working with Teleprompters.
This
was “prompted” by the news from Pete Glaser that the money from fund
raising was coming through to purchase a telepromter and blue screen.
The purchasing committee
made up of a producer, DMTV Foundation member and city representative
were going to meet and see where they could purchase one for the funds
allocated.
No
further business the meeting was adjourned until February 19th.

Notes from the September 19, 2002
Producers Group Meeting
The meeting was brought to order at 640 p.m. There
were not a lot of members that were in attendance, so several agenda
items were tabled until the October Meeting, such as Committee Sign Up
for December Party to be held December 12th, and a Committee to take
turns selling Donuts at Farmer’s Market.
Pete Glaser mentioned that fact that not many Pulse
Segments were being shot and would like some suggestions and follow up
on this.
Mary Pinizotti was not there to give us update on her
showcase for October but Mike Mosakowski thought that it was all in
order. Kris Jones is going to Direct it. It’s related to Domestic
Violence, Men and the Media.
Steve Rose went over requirements of Time Warner in
order to dub tapes correctly to fit into those requirements. He also
announced that 6 Rotary shows were dubbed and in Time Warner’s hands
awaiting time slot. He has also dubbed a couple of Producer’s
Showcases and Kidsnews segments.
The next showcase will be taped November 12th. The
exact show will be announced shortly, so that a crew can be lined up.
Pete announced that Joanne Price was the newest member
of the Del Mar TV Foundation, taking the place of Susan Switzer. Luana
Karr was announced as editor of " In Focus" our newsletter. He
also announced that work was being done by Philippe Lamoise to stream
shows onto our website. This will be exciting.
No new business to be discussed, the meeting was
adjourned.
Notes from the August 15, 2002
Producers Group Meeting
The Del Mar Producer's Group meeting came to order at 6:45pm August 15, 2002. Bob Ganey brought his camera and did some taping for a future collection of "meeting news".
We were happy to see 3 new members to our group. Christy Zajack, Mauricio Redbird and Ilene Arena.
The main topic was getting a committee together to organize the "Wine Tasting"
fund raiser. Pete Glaser will check to see if some dates are open at the Powerhouse.
Luana Karr passed around a sign-up list for people to volunteer.
Also, Mike Mosakowski brought up the suggestion of Edward Kramer's to sell Crispy Crème donuts during Farmer's Market as a fundraiser. We could have an open house with a monitor showing some recent shows at the same time so the community could come in and see what we offer the community. Pete is going to check with the city to
see if we can move forward with this.
Steve Rose stated that the September producer's showcase would be a workshop. Ned from Adelphia in Carlsbad has volunteered to come help us with that. We will try and get CG for Mary's next show in October and Kidsnews so we can practice using CG.
He also mentioned that 5 of the Rotary shows and 3 Showcases have been dubbed on 3/4 tape to be shown on Time Warner.
Pete mentioned that the Foundation restructured their budget and there is enough money to fund those projects that have awarded grants. Also there are funds available for Del Mar Pulse segments.
Maria Gardiner and Luana Karr as producer's for Kidsnews won an award at the 2002 Hometown Video Festival held in Houston. Congratulations to all who have crewed on the shows.
Pete announced that Susan Switzer, unfortunately, had to move away and is back in St. Louis. We will all miss her.
No new business to discuss the meeting was adjourned. Next meeting will take place September 19th at the Del Mar TV Studio 6:30pm.

Notes from the February 21, 2002
Producers Group Meeting
The meeting was brought to order by
Bob Ganey. Bob asked that
everyone check the email list and make sure that we had their email and
it was correct.
The focus of the meeting was on
getting ideas for the Producer’s Showcase.
Steve Rose explained again the idea of Showcase. The Showcase
takes place on the second Thursday of each month, in order for us to
learn the different aspects of producing a show, from lighting to
directing.
Someone asked about release forms
for interviews outside the studio. And it was stated that yes you should
obtain one. The forms are
in the office and you can pick one up for use.
We asked for ideas from the group on
the next shows. One idea
from Theresa was to have a self–defense show.
Maybe interview the instructor then have a demo with adult and
then a child. It was
suggested that maybe she could shoot some scenes at class and use as
roll-in.
Ralph’s idea of learning garden
that he is working on with a school up north was thought to work better
as a separate program than something we could do in the studio on one
night.
Dana had an idea of how people deal
with clutter and disorganization. An “Order out of Chaos” show.
Showing how it affects people in all areas of their lives and the
emotional turmoil some people go through.
Luana had an informational travel
show in mind “Travel Myths and Realities”
new information since 9/11 and packing hints. Then interviews
with 2 ladies from Community
Connections and their trip to Spain.
Erik has the Old Time Radio Show
edited and ready for premier announced Pete Glaser,
March 1st was set for the
event at 7pm.
No new business so meeting was
adjourned.
Notes from the January 17, 2002
Producers Group Meeting
The meeting was brought to order by Bob
Ganey. Susan Switzer announced her retirement from the Tri-Chair but not
from the group or Foundation and introduced Luana Karr as the new chair.
New attendees introduced themselves and
what they might like to produce or ideas they had about possible shows.
Billy Johnson is interested in a Talk Show
format; Mitch Shapiro has been involved in accounting and technical
aspect of cable and would like to learn the production end of it. Julia
and Helen have just finished writing; directing and producing a feature
film and are interested in production.
Valerie was producer back east, a few years ago, and would like
to become involved again and learn the new equipment. John has produced
short sport clips and streaming videos on his own website. He suggested
a show regarding Del Mar Little League. Ulysses Byas, physical
therapist/trainer suggested a series on health, yoga etc. Nicholas
Calabria is new to the Del Mar Area and has been involved with
production in College.
Joanne Price will be shooting her next two
shows on seniors and Exercise/Health Feb 2nd at the
Powerhouse Park. She sent a sign up sheet around for crew assignment.
Bill Hoffman recruited for Del Mar Library
Fun Fun Days, and Lifeguards Ocean Watch and Jr. Lifeguards.
Pete Glaser explained the proposal and
certification process.
Edward Kramer reviewed up coming schedule
for Studio/Field Production and lighting classes.
Edward also mention that if you have your own funding and want to
use the facilities then you must give proposal to Charlie as well as the
Foundation, and it must be approved in order to use the facilities. It
was reiterated that you must be a certified community producer in order
to use facility or you must recruit a certified producer to propose your
program for you.
Steve Rose went over the Producer’s
Showcase Program and the first show approved was Rosemary and Eileen’s
idea to address various health issues presented by professionals. The
next Showcase will take place Feb 13th Wednesday as opposed
to Thursday because of Valentine’s Day. The time frame is 6pm to 10pm.
Otherwise the Showcase is schedule for the 2nd Thursday of
each month. The program must be within the 28.30 TRT. Eileen sent around
a crew sign-up sheet for Feb. 13th.
Ideas for additional shows are needed for
the Producer’s Showcase, you can email your ideas to Bob Ganey, Wade
Smith, Luana Karr or bring them to the next producer’s group meeting.
We would like to get two or 3 shows schedule a head of time.
And it was announced that the Del Mar Fair
Audio/Visual award money received from the entries submitted by Bob
Ganey, Wade Smith and Bill Hoffman were used to upgrade non-linear suite
to 120 gigs of hard drive, Yeah!!
No further business to address the meeting
was adjourned.
Notes from the October 18, 2001
Producers Group Meeting
Bob Ganey and Wade Smith co-chair.
Pizza was served.
New attendees were introduced, signed in for our
mailing list, and were informed of the production classes.
We discussed the idea of someone serving as
Executive Producer of the Del Mar Pulse to insure three new short
segments (total 30 minutes a month) would be completed, instead of
always running the same old segments.
Joanne Price begins production Oct 26, shooting Oct
29 in Del Mar for Stairway to Fitness.
Kids News has two shows being edited for airing.
Watched selected new programs, produced within the
group.
Power House Live featuring Eve Selis will begin
editing Oct 22 (Edward Kramer and Philippe Lamoise said they would help
with their editing skills).
Encouraged Jennifer Douglas to write a Foundation
proposal for her idea: local and country awareness to terrorist and
security problems.
Frank Spannenberg said he would write a proposal
for his idea of an educational plant show. Possibly shot at the
Botanical Gardens.
Philippe Lamoise volunteered to email the
newsletter in PDF format and work on the email data. We discussed
listing the A/V talents of qualified producers on the website.
Edward Kramer produced a Power House concert, Ruby
and the Red Hots, and hopes to have half hour show edited by the end of
November.
Philippe mentioned the River Park as a future
production. Susan Switzer is working on the grant proposal for the
County Television Network (CTN).
Notes from the August 16, 2001
Producers Group Meeting
Consensus on how to spend the approximately $500 in
prize money was that it go toward more RAM on the non-linear editor,
plus an upgrade to Adobe 6.0.
Suggested entries for this year’s WAVE 200
Awards, due in Sep. 1, are:
