of the DMTF Board Meeting
February 10,
2005
Foundation Members absent:
Pete Glaser
9:05 A.M.
President Nicole Holliday
called the meeting to order and welcomed Richard Earnest to the
Foundation Board meeting.
Because bank statements
aren't sent till later in the month the TV Foundation voted to move
their monthly board meeting to the 4th Wednesday of each month at 9 A.M.

Fundraising 2005
Fundraising was discussed
with the focus on Del Mar Idol.
Nicole discussed meeting with
a consultant about finding:
- major sponsors
- name recognition and
branding
- search for corporate
sponsorship
- viewership,
- how to maximize our funds
The board agreed a separate
meeting for the Del Mar Idol fundraiser will be planned by Jack Batzler.
(a sub – committee was
suggested but not voted on.)
Eve Goldman and Jodi Kennedy
created a DMTV viewer survey and asked for input on their draft from the
members.(e mail them )The survey is to drum up interest in DMTV and give
us incite into DMTV viewership and public image . Nicole suggested
placing a cut out fax form of the survey in the Del Mar Times to broaden
response and said she would check with Jim Kerr the editor.
Job Applicants
The position needed to fill
has been placed in print and the job description has been refined.
Three applicants have
expressed interest and two interviews by Nicole and Jodi were scheduled
for after the meeting.
Grant Status
Ok’d Unanimously / Luana
Karr a grant of $315. for show on the Nimitz.
Jack reported that the Boys
and Girls Club project, Middle School Sport Magic was completed and
will be aired on Channel 66,
Friday at 5:30 P.M. and Monday at 10:30 A.M.starting on Feb. 11th .
The Board voted unanimously
to pay the $70. fee for the program to be placed on the web site.
The board also noted the
importance of having press releases for Foundation shows. Ingrid
suggested the Riviera magazine.
Another 1/2 hour show
featuring different sports was proposed to Jack by Keith Padgett. The
cost of that show would be $7000 with the TV Foundation contributing
$2000.( no vote was taken)
Discussion was held about
banks and corporations sharing grant funding with DMTV.
Jodi Kennedy was planning on
videotaping the Del Mar Schools Education Foundation fundraiser on
Feb.13th
The Board was encouraged to
take DMTV instructional classes.
Equipment
Bob Ganey said our equipment
goals were met in 2004 and $1000. was still available for an equipment
purchase. Bob showed different price quotes on different soft light
kits. Other equipment requests were:
audio headphones.
quality microphones / shotgun
mic and boom pole, stereo mic, interview mic
Battery powered camera light
Titling system
Bob suggested looking to the
future ( with the advent of changing technology and HD television)
with any purchase made and
was asked by Jack to give a short presentation at our next meeting on
our 2005 equipment goals.
Bob said he would arrange a
meeting with Pete Glaser and other technicians to discus a plan and
present the board with those findings.
Nicole said that Pete Glaser
was in discussion with the city on how to best serve our editing suite
needs.
The Board had concerns as to
whether DMTV was being effective in gaining a positive image for DMTV
and improving on our public recognition.
Richard Earnest noted that in
DMTV the city of Del Mar had:
- a unique asset
- tangible results for the
community to sell
- a way to help novice
multimedia career minded individuals
Richard said he would draft a
mission statement to promote DMTV’s image that the board could review.
Del Mar Idol
A meeting was scheduled Feb.
23rd , 8 A.M.at Jodi Kennedys for the Idol subcommittee. Other members
welcomed but not mandatory. 521 Avenida Primivera in Del Mar
Awards
The paperwork for some awards
is available at the station with individual grant recipients responsible
for their own fees for submitted shows.
Business was concluded and
meeting adjourned by President Nicole Holliday.
