Minutes and Date of
Meetings
Minutes of the 10/7/04 meeting were approved. It was considered and
unanimously approved that future meetings would now be held on the 2nd
Thursday of each month, beginning at 0900.
05 Budget discussions
Comparative analysis was discussed as regards the ’04 budget as
compared to the ’05 budget. The significant change noted was that we
did not apply for a County Grant for ’05, so that budget line item for
’05 was zeroed. Discussion that ensued highlighted the fact that the
time for submission kind of sneaked up on us, and we simply did not make
an application on time. Discussion then went to implementation of a Del
Mar TV Foundation calendar for board members only, in order to have a
more orderly process in tracking and anticipating significant events.
Eve Goldman was tasked with action to come up with a model calendar,
that would include the time frame for such events as County Grants,
Telly Awards, DM Idol, Fundraisers, Time/Date for Board meetings,
Hometown Awards, Fair Awards, Wave Awards, and others.
Fund Raising
A meeting is scheduled of Friday, Nov 5, at Nicole’s house for
packaging the fund raiser mailer materials. Meeting is scheduled for
0930-1130. If needed, we will schedule another meeting to complete at a
later time.
DM Idol Recap
Changes have been recommended in the scheduling and presentation of
future Idols events, including more prelims, an outside venue, and a
more effective search for sponsorship. This year’s contest was a
significant success that can be made even better, now that it is
recognized as a popular event. Good publicity is essential to this
success, and it should be carefully crafted to maximize the exposure. A
meeting will be convened on 1 December, to get expert input on creative
new things for the contest, as well as early efforts on production
grants. It was determined that the judges used in the last contest had
some very creative ideas that should be brought forward.
Grant Status
There was little new to report. Some Pulse events are ongoing,
through the Producer’s Group.
New Grant Applications
Bob Ganey made a presentation requesting a Grant to do a show on the
Voices of the Valley, studying the Harmony Grove Valley, elfin forest
and surrounding areas. The program is budgeted for $4350.00, of which
Bob has already obtained a Grant for $2500.00 from other sources. While
the presentation was certainly worthy, it was questioned concerning
applicability to the Del Mar area. Since it appeared to be an excellent
example of good programming in general, it was agreed that we should
perhaps review the original criteria and guidelines for giving Grants,
in order to perhaps expand our vistas beyond the insular concerns with
Del Mar. It was agreed that this should be a subject for separate
deliberation at a future board meeting. Bob Ganey was tasked to look at
the distribution of Grant funds in general, and provide a separate
input.
Selection of new equipment
Bob Ganey provided a review of our current status. Equipment
purchased to date, with ’04 campaign contributions includes a PSP for
teleprompters, two new digital decks for cablecast, and other items.
Still on the schedule to purchase are a Chroma Key CG, a Green Chroma
Screen, and a DVD burner.
The next regularly scheduled
meeting will be at 0900 on Thursday, December 9th.
