Minutes
of the DMTF Board Meeting
January 2,
2003, DMTV Studios
In Attendence Jack Batzler, Pete Glaser, Ingrid Hoffmeister,
Nicole Holliday, Joanne Price
Special Guests Steve Rose and Joe Hoefgen
Minutes approved from last meeting
Producer’s Showcase: Steve Rose, who leads the producer’s
showcase every 2nd Thursday of the month, explained how the producer’s
showcase works. DMTV was concerned that the same producers might
monopolize the producing position and therefore are not practicing the
other disciplines. Additionally, there was concern that they are
producing shows without having to go through the grant process. Steve
confirmed that new people with an idea have first priority to produce
and that there is an emphasis on rotating stations. He also noted that
the producers have to present their ideas to the group in a written
format. Typically by the end of showcase evening the group has produced
a thirty-minute program and that some are being cycled by Adelphia.
Finance: Joanne presented the financial reports. ’02 Profit
and Loss statement was approved. Joanne proposed that a subcommittee be
formed to research options for money/cds that are coming due Feb. 20. It
was agreed that the subcommittee would consist of Jack, Joanne and Herb.
• Pete mentioned that 10% of the annual budget is put into an
endowment.
Grant Status: Ingrid will produce two more Del Mar Style
shows.
DMTV Production Status: The city gives the foundation money
annually. Money will be tight this year. Joe suggested that the
foundation produce a highlights video of work to present in June at the
City’s budget workshop. DMTV will need to pitch why we need funds.
Pete will lead that effort.
• DMTV is producing a video for the city about getting the train
off of the bluffs in response to the Vision 2020 report. The City will
pay 1k and DMTV $500.
• Pete presented the "’02 Grant Application Tracking
Worksheet"- it was approved.
• Joanne proposed paying Steve Rose $50 per showcase in recognition
of his leadership. It was unanimously approved, effective Jan. ’03.
• Pete mentioned that DMTV would no longer tape the 1st Thursday
concert series. Lynn Gaylord and Chuck Freeburg have told Pete that they
don’t want the show’s to be taped. Ingrid will check with the
Cultural Arts Committee to confirm that it’s the consensus of the
committee.
New Board Members: The Board is still looking for a
replacement for Garry Shirts.
Streaming Video: There are funds to upload six more videos on
the DMTV website. Ultimately the city council meetings will be available
via the Internet. People outside of the community and/or people without
cable will have access to the taped meetings. Ingrid, Nicole and Pete
will choose the six videos meeting scheduled for 9am, Tues. 1/28.
