Joanne Price asked for continued funding for her Stairway to Fitness series. A discussion followed about how well the program fit into our priorities. It was pointed out that she has been encouraged to seek funding from Community Connections since the focus is primarily on seniors. Herb Turner made a motion to support the project at a $500. Level, Peter seconded the motion. The motion passed 5 to 0 with Mary abstaining. It was agreed that at the next meeting we would put an item on the budget that would focus on how we spend our money in relation to our goals.”

Peter showed the group the coverage from the newspaper of Monte Carlo Night and mentioned that it was good but not as good as last year. He felt that the lack of sponsors and the world situation made it less successful than last year. Mary Hale disagreed and a spirited discussion followed. There was a short discussion about whether we should continue to hold Monte Carlo night next year. Another spirited discussion followed It was agreed to put the question on next month’s agenda.

Peter presented the proposed  “Del Mar Television Foundation Grant Program Agreement”  Herb Turner moved that we accept the agreement for use by the foundation, Walt Beerle seconded it. It passed 6 to 0.

Peter proposed that the foundation purchase general liability insurance for DMTF and also DMTF officers and directors liability insurance. He’s received several quotes already. It appears that it will cost the foundation between $3,000 and $5,000  for 1 million dollars worth of insurance. Walt moved that Peter be authorized to select the carrier, Nicole seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous in favor of the motion.

Peter reported that we had budgeted about $5,000 for filming Del Mar community  affairs and we need to put an additional $3,000 for Summer Solstice and other upcoming events.

Peter reported on the funding of the river valley project. We’ve received a total of $10,00 from the county, $5,000 from the San Dieguito conservancy and hope to use the 30 second promo filmed from the helicopter to solicit $5,000 from the Joint Powers Authority

Peter reported that he did a trial of streaming video with an outside service. It will eventually allows someone checking into our web site to view the city council meetings live on the internet. It will also allow us to get our programs beyond the boundaries of Del Mar.
